SEO Monitor



The SEO Monitor provides data for in-depth analysis of the top 20 competitors per keyword and search engine for the last 30 days. SERP Change report includes daily SERP snapshot with title and description, landing page, SERP indicators, and rank positions for the selected keyword for up to 20 competitors. A change highlight feature makes it easy to view the type of change that occurred in the search results between one day and the next (e.g., title change, landing page change, SERP feature, etc.).

This SEO tool is located in the Reports > Research section of Rank Ranger under Competition Analysis.

Top Competitor Analysis
Based on the selected report options, this graph displays the rank trend for 1 keyword on 1 search engine for the last 30 days, for the top 5, top 10, top 15 or top 20 competitors.

In this example, we have set the graph to display the top 10 competitors for 1 keyword on Google.com USA, and enabled the Combined Metric Hover setting to display all competitors and their rank positions for the date we hovered over. Below the graph, the Legend button has been clicked to enable the display of a legend detailing the URLs and the graph color that represents each.

In the above graph you may notice that on several dates there isn't a line representing the number 3 position, this is because one of the sites that is in the number 1 or number 2 rank position was also ranking for position 3 (in the above example, it was allrecipes.com that held both positions 2 and 3 on February 24th for the selected keyword).

SERP Analysis
Each SERP snapshot includes the SERP title, landing page URL, description text, Google SERP features (if applicable), and the top rank position.
To the right of the search result is the rank date, additional positions that the keyword ranked for on that date (if applicable), and the type of change that occurred in the SERP between the rank date and the previous rank date. Clicking on a position reveals the SERP snapshot for it, and click on a change type highlights the change.

A Period Visibility score is provided for the 30-day period comparing the strength of the site vs. the 19 competitors in terms of top 20 rank occurrences.

Analyze Day to Day SERP Changes
Click on a Change Type (e.g. SERP Indicator) to highlight the change between the rank date and previous date.  In this example the following changes are highlighted:
  • The Description changed between March 10th and 11th.
  • The Sitelinks SERP Indicator was in the search result on March 10, but not on the 11th.

Multiple Keyword Rank Positions

 

Multiple SERP Positions for the same Keyword
The Competitor SERP Changes report is interactive and provides options for discovery of the title, link, description, SERP features and multiple rank positions for the tracked keyword on the selected search engine. In this example the keyword has ranked in positions 2 and 3 for different landing pages.

Report Options

 

Select a campaign keyword to base the competitor report on and click the search icon

  • Enter a custom title to display across the top of the report (optional)

  • Select the search engine to be used for competitor comparison

  • Select to display the top 5, 10, 15 or 20 competitors in the top chart

  • Select Single Metric to view 1 website at a time while hovering over the chart
  • Select Combined to view all websites when hovering over a single date
  • Select the Color Palette that you want applied to the Competitor Rank Trends graph

Click the Apply Changes button



Add to PDF Report


Conveniently add a report or graph with its current settings to a PDF report by hovering over the gold gear icon and selecting Add to PDF Reports

Select the PDF Report that you want the report or graph added to

Drag the new report or graph into the position you want it to display in the PDF and confirm that the Date settings do not conflict with the automated scheduling settings.

Add to Marketing Dashboard


Conveniently add a report or graph with its current settings to a marketing dashboard:

1. Hover over the gold gear icon and select Add to Marketing Dashboard
2. Select the Dashboard (campaign name)
3. Select the Dashboard Page that you want the report added to

4. Click the "Go to Dashboard" link to further customize the report (e.g., drag it to a specific position on the page, change date settings, etc.)
             



Refer to the Report Options section for details regarding the display settings, filters and sort options available for this report.

The report date (or date range) is governed by the selected Dashboard date option: Date Selection or Fixed Periods, learn more...

  • Daily reports default to the last day of the selected period
  • Weekly and monthly reports default to 1 month of data
To change the number of weeks or months displayed in a specific report, click the gear icon for any marketing dashboard report element and expand the Date option section, enter the number and click the Save Button.

Add to Client Dashboard


Customize Report for Client Dashboard

Client Dashboards display our default report options for each individual report and graph until you modify them. To customize the display of the report, expand the Report Options section, change the settings and click the Apply Changes button.

Then expand Report Options again and hover over the Save icon and select Save as Default for Client Dashboard.

After saving the Client Dashboard default, any changes that you make to the report options will not affect the display in the Client Dashboard unless you overwrite it by following these instructions again.


Enable the Report or Graph to display in the Client Dashboard

Open the Campaign Settings > Client Dashboard screen and check the box corresponding to the report(s) you want displayed in the dashboard, and then click the Save button.
