Deep links

Deep Links is a term usually used to refer to links that point to content inside smartphone apps. In order for Google to index the content inside apps, smartphone app developers sign up with Google allowing them to index their apps. Google crawls the apps and then displays search results with deep links to specific "pages" inside the app. People that have the relevant app on their smartphone that click on the link will be taken directly to the content, otherwise, they will be prompted to install the app.

What are the benefits of deep links?

Here are some benefits fo deep links:

Streamlined User Experience

When an advertiser sends a user to an app from an ad through a deep link, by sending the user to a specific piece of content, the user experience is greatly simplified. This excellent user experience is likely to result in greater user retention and higher conversion rates.

Helps to Re-Engage With App Users

When an app user has been inactive for a long period of time the advertiser can re-engage them by redirecting them to specific engaging content on the app. This is more likely to inspire user engagement than a generic home page.

Increased Google visibility

Google indexes deep links and as a result, they can be found in Google search results thereby potentially increasing organic traffic.
