Keyword Cannibalization

Keyword cannibalization is a situation where multiple pages on a website target the same keyword(s) through the use of the keyword in the page's title and content. The term cannibalization is fitting in that like cannibals eat their own kind, web pages targeting the same terms are cannibalizing each other, not letting any page stand out for that keyword. In such a situation, search engines have difficulty determining which is the authoritative page for the keyword, and therefore, in order to optimize rank, each landing page should focus on different keywords.
