Long Tail Keyword

Long-tail keywords are keyword phrases consisting of three or more words. The source of the term "long tail" comes from the graphic representation of search volume versus keyword length on a line graph. As a rule, the shorter the keyword phrase, the greater the search volume, and conversely, the longer a keyword phrase is, the lower the search volume will be. Plotting search volume on the vertical Y-axis and keyword length on the horizontal X-axis results in a line that starts high on the left and drops drastically as the keyword length increases. At some point, the line levels off and extends off to the right, taking the form of a long tail.
