Mirror Site

A mirror site is a copy of a website hosted on another server. It may use the same URL as the primary site, a subdomain or a completely different domain. Mirror sites are normally used to distribute the traffic load across different web servers and to locate servers in closer proximity to users, thus reducing latency. If a subdomain or different domain is used for the same content, canonical tags should be used so that the duplicate content should not be a negative ranking factor for the primary domain.
